Why Ishvari Began

There is no shortage of hair oils

There is no shortage of hair oils. There is a shortage of explanations.

Fourteen years inside cosmetic R&D teaches you how a formula is actually built — and how often an ingredient is added because it will read well on a label, not because the formula needed it. Rajeswari watched that happen for years, from inside the room where it was decided.

Ishvari began from the opposite discipline. Decide what the scalp needs. Understand how those ingredients behave together. Leave out the rest. Then write down the reason for every one that stayed, where anyone can read it.

There is also a private standard behind it, one that has nothing to do with marketing. Before anything becomes a product, she asks whether she would use it on her own family. That question has ended more formulations than it has approved.

India has known these plants for a long time. What tradition hands over is the ingredient; what it does not settle is how much, in what base, alongside what else, and for whose scalp. Those are formulation questions, and they are answered with cosmetic science.
